# Datadog

Datadog credentials let an Arklow metric source query your Datadog account.

## Required permissions

* `timeseries_query` (application key scope)

## Create your credentials

Create an API key and an application key in your Datadog organization settings. The steps are in [API and Application Keys](https://docs.datadoghq.com/account_management/api-app-keys/).

## Add credentials to Arklow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the credentials page">
    Go to [**Credentials**](https://app.arklow.io/dashboard/credentials) and click **Create credential**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the type">
    Set **Credential Type** to **Datadog**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the keys">
    Paste your **API Key** and your **Application Key**. Both stay hidden and are encrypted at rest.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Create credential**.
  </Step>

## Datadog site

Please ensure that you have the correct Datadog region selected. For example, a key from the US1 site (`api.datadoghq.com`) will not work against the EU site (`api.datadoghq.eu`) or any other site.
